The staff and Steering Committee will also be scheduling workshops on topics such as: durable power of attorney for financial and medical protection, setting up wills, etc., in communities around the state. These workshops, while providing LGBT people with necessary information to protect themselves, their families and their assets, will also be used as organizing tools to inform people of the need for civil and legal protection.

Additionally, the staff will continue to provide technical assistance for communities and organizations as requested, over the next year. And, of course, we will be holding the 6th Annual Summit in September, 2000 for activists from throughout New Mexico, western Texas and Mexico.

The annual SUMMIT, to be held in September in Albuquerque, will have a focus of civil rights community organizing.
